  • Points can be claimed if the employment is in your designated occupation or closely related to the skilled occupation; and you were employed for the applicable periods set out in the table, in the ten years before you are invited to apply.
  • Whereas for Australian employment, you must have a substantive visa (that allows you to remain temporarily in Australia) or Bridging A or Bridging B These visas must be complied with the conditions of that visa to be qualified for points.
  • Employed hours must be at least 20 hours per week

4. Educational Qualification

Doctorate from an Australian or another educational institutes
Bachelor degree from an Australian or another educational institutes
Diploma or trade qualification from Australian educational institutes
Awards or qualification recognized by the authority

5. Specialist education qualification

A Master’s degree or a Doctorate from an Australian educational institutes with 2 academic years study. 10

The postgraduate degree (Masters or Doctorate) must be awarded from an Australian educational institution. It must have at least two academic years of study in science, technology, engineering, mathematics or other specified information and ICT fields.

6. Australian Study Requirement

Completion of a Professional Year in Australia 5

7. Credentialed Community Language

To be Credentialed in a community language and qualified for the award of points, you must be accredited at the paraprofessional level or above, certified provisional level or above, or have a community language certification for interpreting by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters.

8. Study in regional Australia

At least 1 degree, diploma or trade qualification from Australian educational institution satisfying Australian study requirement.5

10. Nomination or sponsorship

If invited for Skilled Regional (Provisional) (subclass 489) visa as being nominated and the Territory government agency has not withdrawn that nomination or
